Children's Sunday School. Children attend the beginning of the 10:30 a.m. worship service, until after the "Time for the Child in Each of Us." They then go to the Parish House with a teacher, to explore the Bible and aspects of our faith, always age appropriate. Children then share in the Fellowship Hour with parents after the service ends. The last Sunday each month is a Family Sunday, with children attending the service and assisting at an age-appropriate level.  Sunday School children and teachers usually return to the sanctuary for monthly communion.
Our Christian Education program believes that children and youth should grow in their understanding of being a child of God and being a follower of Jesus Christ. We believe that Christian Education for our young people is essential to ensure balanced church family life and intergenerational activities, now and in our future. Children's Bibles are bestowed at the end of 3rd grade.

Adult Education. Classes and discussion groups are offered around various topics throughout the year. Adults are invited to join discussions and programs that suit their spiritual needs. On Jan. 19th after worship, a video on the Civil Rights Movement will be screened in the Parish House.

Non-Violent Communication Course. Jan. 30, 2020 from 6:00-8:00 PM at MDI High School. SUMH has arranged in conjunction with MDI Adult Education for Peggy Smith to give an introductory class. $10 fee covers the MDI adult education class fees. Participants can sign up for a subsequent 12 hour weekend intensive course. SUMH Mission Committee is arranging for scholarship funds to underwrite the $150 per person cost of the longer class.

Our children and youth love to attend our Maine Conference UCC Summer Camp, Pilgrim Lodge. Parents pay the registration fee and our campership fund provides half of the balance. If parents request additional help, it will be provided through fundraising projects.
